About Me

Hi!

Blog 2

I’m Fiona. I’m an ex-USS swimmer and water-polo player turned runner and CrossFitter. The past year has been a year of transformation for me, from a lady who loves the late night dance parties and was always looking to lose those last 5 lbs, to one who cares more about busting her ass in the gym than busting a move on the dance floor. It took a bad ankle surgery that threatened to leave me paralyzed in one leg to really make me realize what was important in life, and that wasn’t partying my life away.

I started throwing around heavy things in the gym and fell in love. I realized that if I wanted to get better I had to put on some muscle. After doing some research,I decided to take my health more seriously, quit the Lean Cuisines and Snackwells I thought were making me skinny, and took up the Paleo Diet. I was amazed at how much better my body functioned and how good I felt from eating real food (shocking concept, I know). I try to stick to it 80% of the time to allow some flexibility in my diet without obsessing over my food.

I love to run and have the goal of getting a 1:45 1/2 marathon and I’m constantly trying to break my own personal lifting records in CrossFit.

When I’m not in the gym or pounding the pavement I love hiking (lots of that in Colorado), snowboarding, climbing, swimming and pretty much anything you can think of that will keep me moving. I love this new lifestyle I have and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Previously, I’d spent a lot of time thinking about all the cool things I wanted to try, without ever actually doing them.  So, instead of constantly of TALKING about it, let’s all BE ABOUT IT.

  1. We have been raising pristine high mountain 100% Grass-fed and Finished Beef and Lamb using Holistic Management (click here for Allan Savory’s TED talk) for many years in Gunnison CO. We have been providing meat to many of the small mountain towns around us, while also improving the ecosystems that we manage and are now beginning to offer a Front Range delivery. We wanted to touch base with you because your followers are interested in pristine 100% Grass-fed and finished grass-fed meats.

You can visit our website at http://www.parkerpastures.com. We would love to connect with you and your clients to fill everyone’s freezers with a high quality healthy meat that you can trust and that is also DELICIOUS!

Thanks and please let me know if we can send you some hard copies of our brochure.

  2. Ok, yes, we are definitely best friends. I mean, I live in GA and you’re in CO, you like outdoor activities and I’m in a city that offers very little of that, and you’ve climbed a fucking mountain, and I don’t even know what that means, but we’re still best friends ok?! I love that you love Paleo and share the same ideas about it as I do. Lifting is my favorite! It’s so wonderful to find other bloggers who realize that low fat processed sugar filled shit is not good for them, too. Please try not to mind the stalking that will now ensue. Thanks!

  3. I am sorry to hear about your ankle, but it sounds like it helped you become the person you are today. I have a friend from college who moved to CO and she enjoys living there. She said the culture to get out and do things was much different than it was in Texas. I have been to Colorado once and parts of it are beautiful.

I have seen other blogs mention the Paleo diet and may look into doing it myself. A little over a month ago I started my own Blog and Fitness journey and feel it has helped me. It is crazy how complete strangers can be so warm, open, and friendly. From what little I’ve seen, it looks like you got a lot of great stuff in this blog.

  4. Colorado I see. I am scheduled to be re-located there in February. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t excited. Great Half Marathon time there. I’m going to have to follow this blog and hit you up for some of those Hiking trails for the spring. I can’t wait to get back to the USA.

    • Awesome! That’s so exciting, it is definitely the best state that I have lived in thus far. Especially if you like active thing (which it seems you do). Let me know when you get out here and I can give you some recommendations!

  5. You had me at swimmer and water polo! I did both growing up, with water polo happening during my college years. I started this CrossFit thing early this year and it has already changed my life. I love it, I’m already amazed at my progress but also amazed at how far I have to go to meet some of my goals.

Really good site you have here, I like your style and your posts are enjoyable to read. Keep it up, I’ll stop by again!

    • Thanks so much for stopping by! I am so glad you have had such a positive experience with CrossFit. There is definitely always a list of things to work out, but I think that’s part of the fun.. it’s constantly forcing you to improve yourself so you can’t plateau!
